When we receive flowers, my wonderful wife, Manuela, always teases me because I take the bouquets out of the water after a while and let them dry. They then usually stand on our balcony for a while – or even a little longer. I take pictures of them from time to time. But I'm not interested in documenting the decay process. So it's not about taking pictures at certain intervals to document the decay over a certain period of time. No, my aim is to emphasise the transience of beauty and the beauty in transience in each individual picture. Personally, I think that when the flowers dry out and decay, they develop a very unique aesthetic.
